Debra P. Cowan

Debra P. Cowan, 65, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at her home.

Born July 9, 1953, in Erie, she was reared in the home of the late Robert and Margaret (Hefner) Cowan.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Smith.

Surviving family members are: Viola Danko, of McKean, Myron Cowan and wife, Frances, of Lewistown, Raymond Cowan and wife, Iva, of Lewistown, James Cowan and wife, Marjorie, of Delaware, and Mary Jane Koontz and husband, Gerald, of Lewistown; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

Earlier in life, she attended Lewistown Assembly of God Church.

Earlier in life, she worked at Jamesway and later employed by Wal-Mart as a sales associate.

Debra was a Penn Highlands, Lewistown campus, High School graduate, Class of 1971. She attended Slippery Rock University.

She was a member of the Chapter 212 Women of the Moose where she held the Academy of Friendship degree. Debra was very active at work for the Relay for Life charity and Children’s Miracle Network. She was a member of the safety committee and organized the children’s Christmas party at Walmart. She enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Wednesday Oct. 24, 2018, at the Juniata Terrace Community Building, 80 Hudson Ave., Lewistown, with Pastor Daniel Rockwell officiating.

Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Debra’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
