Dolores Jean (Searer) Matter

Dolores Jean Matter, 82, formerly of Burnham, passed away at 8:40 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born Sept. 4, 1940, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Edith (Bair) Searer.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Matter, whom she married June 16, 1962, on June 11, 2011.

She is survived by: children, Mark W. Matter, of Renton, Wash., and Gina M. Miller and husband, David, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Zane, Ciara and Kendall Miller; and siblings, Leonard Searer and wife, Lisa, of Carlisle, Wendy Barner and husband, Tim, of Milroy, Gary Searer, of Milroy, and Randall Searer.

Dolores was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1959.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Dolores was employed as a sales clerk for G.C. Murphy Company in downtown Lewistown, and as a notary for many years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, loved watching soap operas, and was a loyal Penn State football fan.

The family will receive friends from Noon to 1 p.m., Monday, April 24, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham, followed by the memorial service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Dan Hamilton officiating.

Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.
