Born April 25, 1959, in Bristol, Conn., he was the son of the late Donald M. Chapman Jr. and Susan (Fable) Chapman, of Belleville, who survives.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nadia V. Chapman, Nov. 7, 2013.
In addition to his mother, Donald is survived by: wife, Ayan (Najafova) Chapman; son, Sergey Frolov and wife, Kateryna, of Elizabethtown; granddaughter, Amelia Frolov; sister, Amy (Chapman) Frey, of Belleville; niece, Samantha Marie Frey, of Belleville; and special friend, Andrew Vdov.
He was a graduate of Kishacoquillas High School, Class of 1977. He also graduated from Elizabethtown College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Don began his career in 1981 at Scott Paper Company, later purchased by Kimberly Clark. He was employed at Ribbon and Sticker in N.J. before starting a 25-year career in sales at master wholesaler Winans McShane, in East Brunswick, N.J. His abilities led him into other paper and distribution ventures, and he chose to return to his hometown of Belleville, Pa. In 2005, he became founder of Nittany Paper at the Mifflin County Industrial Development Plaza, Lewistown, and gradually grew the company from three to 140 employees and from a 5,000 to 350,000 square foot building. Nittany Paper later merged with Marcal Paper and until recently, Don remained a driving force behind sales as a board member, sales executive and mentor. He was genuinely grateful for his employees and clients and always took the time to listen to their needs and produce the best solutions.
Don was a true entrepreneur and helped to establish other local companies including Freedom Technologies, The Waterfront Tavern, The Linen Room and The Sand Plant. He was active in his community and passionate about supporting the now Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing, Juniata Valley YMCA, Rescue Our Furry Friends (ROFF) and many other charitable causes.
Don was a proud conservative, who, like his father, loved Mifflin County and always strived to make it a better place. He loved his family and his pets.
