Donald ‘Danny’ M. Moore, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born January 30, 1932, in Barrville, he was the son of the late Arvad and Lorena (Norris) Moore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sherman, Richard, Ronald ‘Lenny’, Janet Warner, Gloria Wagner.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian (Jones) Moore; sons, Michael Moore and wife, Vonda, of Canton, OH, Barry ‘Beaver’ Moore; grandchildren, Julie Stringfellow, Nicholas Moore and wife, Mandi, Natalie Moore, Rachael Gibson and husband, Shane, Ryan Moore, Nathan Moore; great-grandchildren, Alek Moore, Jaylyn Moore, James Stringfellow, Camren Moore, Drue Moore, Ava Moore, Emmy Gibson, Beckam Gibson; great-great-granddaughter, Alaina Stringfellow; and a sister, Betty Niman, of Mifflintown.
He was a member of Yeagertown Fire House, City Hook & Ladder, and Fraternal Order of Eagles #4294.
Donald was a 1950 graduate of Derry High School.
He was a United States Army veteran. He served during the Korean Conflict in the 7th Division 23rd tank battalion.
Danny worked in the melt shop at Standard Steel, where he later retired.
In 1950 he was picked by major league scouts to play for the annual legion all-star game at Philly Shibe Park.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 11 am., with Pastor Joshua Randolph officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
