Donna Marie Aurand

Donna Marie Aurand, 81, of Ferguson Valley, Lewistown, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Feb. 10, 2021, at her home.      

Born May 21, 1939, in Lewistown, she was the second child of the late Maurice W. and Esther E. (DeArmitt) Aurand.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Nelson W. Aurand, Helen V. (Aurand) Ritter, and M. Frances (Aurand) Yeater.

She is survived by siblings, Mrs. Jean Laughlin and husband, John, of Lewistown, Mrs. Thelma M. Snyder, of Manchester, Pa., and sister-in-law, Mrs. Genevieve McCardle and husband, Harv, of Lewistown.  Among her surviving nephew and nieces are:  Dr. Jeanette M. (Aurand) Legenza, of Eagle River, Alaska, Julie R. Aurand, currently of Luguillo, Puerto Rico, and Mrs. Kristen R. (Suloff) Kuhn, of Lewistown.

Donna grew up on the Aurand family farm in Ferguson Valley near the Ellen Chapel Church.  After graduating from Lewistown High School in 1957, she was employed as a licensed practical nurse at the Masonic Hospital in Elizabethtown for many years.  Following her retirement in 1991, she volunteered frequently at Valley View Haven in Belleville.

A Methodist by faith, she was a long-time member of the Ellen Chapel Church.  Frequently recognized annually for having perfect Sunday School attendance, she was also involved in weekly Bible Study meetings.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses of UPMC Hospice, Central Pennsylvania, and special thanks to Donna’s local caregivers, Millie Corbin, Betsy Morgan and Linda Williams, for their loving care and compassion during the past months.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Mark Hill officiating.  Interment will take place at Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. 

A public memorial service to honor and remember Donna will be held at a later date, to be announced when arrangements are complete.
