Doris B. (Bailey) Doll

Doris B. Doll, 92, of Elmcroft Senior Living in Reedsville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 1:39 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019.

Born Sept. 29, 1926, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Omar and Sarah Catherine (Jackson) Bailey.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her first husband, Samuel G. Ritter, in 2005; second husband, Donald J. Doll, June 16, 2017; six brothers; and three sisters.  Doris was the last of her siblings.

She is survived by her son, Barry L. Ritter, of Lewistown, three nieces and a nephew.

Doris was a 1945 graduate of Lewistown High School.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McAlisterville.

She was employed for many years as an administrative assistant for a federal court judge in Philadelphia.  She later retired from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office in Harrisburg in 1988.  After retiring, she worked as a church secretary and gave to a lot of charitable organizations.  She had a heart of gold and loved to give.

Doris enjoyed reading, sewing, babysitting, adult coloring and working crossword puzzles.  She loved to travel and was a food lover, and she especially loved chocolate.  Doris was known for her warm and compassionate personality.  She had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke.  Doris also had a very generous heart and loved giving to those less fortunate than herself.  Doris was a fantastic mother, wife and friend, and will be greatly missed by many.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Weds., Sept. 4, 2019, at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 U.S. Highway 522 South, Lewistown, with The Reverend Erin Bovendam officiating.

Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
