Doris McCartle Obituary

Doris E. McCartle, 90, of Mifflinburg, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born June 28, 1934, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Charles I. and Evelyn (Bell) Bishop.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. McCartle, who passed September 30, 2004; a daughter, Dawn Tate in 1994 and an infant son and daughter, and a son, Charles J. McCartle in 2006; two infant sisters; and a granddaughter, Tabitha McCartle.

She is survived by her children, Vickie L. Mitchell and husband, Walter, of Mifflinburg, Melody L. Wray and husband, Terry, of McClure, Susan E. Stroup and husband, Mike, of Belleville, Andrew W. McCartle and wife, Lori, of Yeagertown; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way; brother, Charles ‘Bud’ Bishop, of Mifflintown.

Doris was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Yeagertown.

She was a 1952 graduate of Burnham High School.

She belonged to the Knotty Ladies quilting group. She enjoyed embroidery getting together with friends to quilt, play bingo and going to the Yeagertown Senior Center. Doris loved to listen to country music.

A graveside service with interment will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, at Birch Hill Cemetery, with Reverend Carla Vollard officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris’s memory to; Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 132 N. Main St., Yeagertown, PA 17099.
