Dorothea Belle Shawver, 90, of Lewistown, passed away at 6:41 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at Celebration Villa of Reedsville.
Born Jan. 28, 1934, in Granville, she was a daughter of the late Dale and Anna (Knox) Foltz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon A. “Tony” Shawver, and five siblings, Eugene, Gerald, and Robert Foltz, Edwina Hess, and Ann Louise James.
Dorothea is survived by: children, Vicki L. Yoder and husband, Daniel, of McVeytown, Michael Shawver and wife, Susan, of Lewistown, and Patti Beers and husband, Orville, of McVeytown; five grandchildren, Justin Trego and wife, Angela, Gina Moore and husband, Matthew, Gregory Shawver and companion, Angela Wedgwood, Anthony Beers and wife, Veronica, and Megan Colussy and husband, Mark; 15 great-grandchildren, Raven Arnold and husband, Gerson, Kyla Reinhart, Karlee Trego, Gage, Evan and Reese Moore, Austin Large, Lilliana and Natasha Beers, Evander, Gabrial, Eliza, Aviya, Maccabee and Zebulun Colussy; great-great-grandson, Oliver Arnold; and sisters, Florence Bilger, of McVeytown, Geraldine Miller and husband, Charles, and Jacqueline Boyden, both of Granville.
She was a Lewistown-Granville High School graduate, Class of 1952.
Dorothea grew up attending Granville United Methodist Church, which was her church home throughout her life. She was also a member of the Lewistown Order of Moose.
She loved hunting, bowling, painting, and playing Bingo. Dorothea was very competitive and enjoyed participating locally in the annual Senior Games.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.
A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Reverend Alan Hulslander officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
