Dorothy “ Dot” Jean Beaston , 85 , formerly of Mifflintown passed away April 21, 2026, at Greenwood Village , Lewistown where she had been a resident for the last year and half . 
Born July 23, 1940,  in Brooklyn, New York. She was the eighth of the twelve children born to the late Charles and Marion (Zaugg) Taylor of Brooklyn, New York. 
In the mid 1940’s Dot came down to Mifflin on a train as a Fresh Air kid. The family that was supposed to get her didn’t show up that day. Elizabeth “Lib” (Wise) and Harold Smith of Mifflintown were there and brought her home for a few weeks. When Dot returned to Brooklyn, she wanted to come back to Mifflintown. Lib and Harold raised her as their own child. Dot became really close with a lot of Lib’s family. They all treated Dot as one of their own family member. She was especially close with her cousin, Joyce (Wise) Swartz. 
On August 22, 1957 she married James Elmer Beaston Sr. in Hagerstown. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in August of 2007. James passed away March 24, 2008. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by both sets of parents, Charles-1967 and Marion-1997 & Harold -1953 and  Lib-1995; brothers,  Robert Taylor, Allan Taylor, Warren Taylor, Danny Taylor; and sisters Carol (Taylor) Rallis, Grace (Taylor)  Hagivik , Muriel (Taylor)  Andrews, Virginia “Ginger “ Stokes and Patricia “Patsy” (Taylor)  Romig; two children, Timothy L. Beaston on November 1, 2017, and Kathy Jo Koch on October 17, 2022; one grandson, Corey Alan Beaston on September 9, 1984; a former son-in-law, Kenneth “Ugh” Berrier-2021 and present son-in-law, Steven “Buck” Rowles -2025.  As well as many other family members. 
She is survived by three of her five children, James “Jimmy” Elmer Beaston Jr, of Harrisburg, Richard Lee “Rick” Beaston Sr. and wife, Virginia “Granny”, of Mifflintown and Vicki Lynn Rowles, of Mifflin. She is also survived by her 10  grandchildren, Richard “Ricky” Jr  and Jason “Jake “ Beaston , Christine “Chrissy” , Kimbra “Kimi” ( McAlister) , Tammy and Gerald “Jerry”  Berrier as well as Kenneth, Justin and Richard “Richie” Aumiller and Jason Goss Sr., 26  great grandchildren, Gracelynn Beaston, Reba Wickard, Ava Beaston, Jason Beaston Jr, Melanie Misal, Porter Kreider, Bryleigh Kreider, Trenton Kauffman , Macey Kauffman , Kelseah Kauffman , Morgan Berrier , David Greth III, Lukas Hockenberry, Brantlee, William Welch IV, Johnna Berrier, Alexis Aumiller, Carly Aumiller, Justin Aumiller Jr , Brooke Goss, Mackena Goss, Jason Goss Jr, Tiffany Aumiller, Johnathan Charles, Kendra Aumiller, and Summer Aumiller, and 11 great great-grandchildren;  her sisters Barbara (Taylor) Bulla of Staten Island, NY and Geraldine (Taylor) “Gerry”  Caldwell of Safety Harbor, Florida, and by many other family members.
She attended elementary school in Mifflin at the old schoolhouse and also Juniata Joint High School. Earlier in her life she worked at Empire Kosher. She was also a former cook at Zimmies Diner and Stop 35 for many years. At Stop 35 she was known as Little Dot in the kitchen. Dot liked to do word searches and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She went to baseball games at Connie Mack and Veterans Stadium to see the Phillies. When her health allowed her she loved to plant flowers at her house in Mifflintown and collect Amish memorabilia. She also liked to paint her ceramics. 
Her family would like to thank all at Berry’s (Magnolia), Lewistown Hospital and Greenwood Village for taking care of her. 
Interment will be at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery Mifflintown beside her husband.
Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
