Earl R. Jordan, Jr.

Earl R. Jordan Jr., 89, formerly of West Hills, Lewistown, passed away at 10:12 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, at Locust Grove Retirement Village in Mifflin.

Born May 14, 1935, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Earl R. Jordan Sr. and Florence (Mellott) Jordan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Shirley J. (Watters) Jordan, whom he married July 28, 1956; a son, David L. Jordan on Aug. 24, 2009; and an infant brother.

Earl is survived by: son, Douglas M. Jordan, of Texas, and brother, Gary L. Jordan and wife, Donna, of Fredericksburg, Md.

He was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1954, and a U.S. Army veteran.

Earl was employed by Standard Steel Corporation in Machine Shop I for 23 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 143, and United Steelworkers of America, Local 1940.

A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m., with Reverend Stephanie Rupert officiating.

Private interment will take place at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown.
