Edith J. (Gutshall) Baxter McCloskey

Edith J. Baxter McCloskey, 81, of Lewistown, passed away at 1:02 p.m., Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born July 24, 1940, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Wayne H. Gutshall Sr. and Edith I. (Cavanaugh) Gutshall.                

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: first husband, David C. Baxter, May 25, 1987; second husband, Lawrence R. McCloskey, Jan. 7, 2004; son-in-law, Charlie Williams;  a grandson; and siblings, Leon, William and Charles Gutshall, and Charlene Campbell. 

Edith is survived by: six children, Barry L. Baxter, of Danville, Steven C. Baxter and wife, Felicia, of Mifflin, David W. Baxter, of Lewistown, Vicky Markel and husband, Michael, of New Bloomfield, Tina Williams, of Lewistown, and Angela Stover and husband, Donald, of Lewistown; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wayne H. Gutshall and wife, Mary, of McClure, and Wanda Patrick, of Alabama.

She was a homemaker and attended Bethel AME Church.  Edith loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at the Funeral Home, with Rev. John Walters officiating.

Interment will take place at Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.
