Edward R. “Dusty” Rhodes Jr., 97, formerly of Lewistown, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at Valley View Haven.

Born August 29, 1928, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Edward R. Rhodes Sr. and Georgiana (Shibley) Rhodes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis Wise and Shibley Cahill.

Dusty is survived by his children Robin Rhodes of Dallas, TX and Scott T. Rhodes and wife, Susan, of Ft. Myers, FL; grandchildren Allison Rhodes of Ft. Myers, FL and Eric Rhodes of Lewistown; Niece, Georgeann McMullen of Belleville and nephew, Richard Wise of Belleville as well as his dear friend Margaret Herto of Reedsville.

He was a proud graduate of Belleville High School class of 1947 and graduated from Susquehanna University in 1957 with a B.S. in Business Administration.

Dusty served in the U.S. Army occupation forces in Japan and later in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He owned and operated Rhodes Oil Company as well as R & S Bus Company.

In addition to his professional and military accomplishments, Dusty was deeply committed to civic engagement and youth development. He was a member of the Juniata Valley Boy Scout Association and was a past president of the Shawnee District. He received the Silver Beaver Award in 1984 and the Good Scout Award in 1985. Dusty also served on boards of the Juniata Valley Bank and the Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation.

Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
