Effie Mae Halfpenny, 76, of Milroy passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at her home.
Born May 1, 1949 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Effinger DeArment and Mary (Snyder) DeArment.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. Halfpenny.
She is survived by her daughters, Monique Wilson, of Troxelville, Sherri Earnest, of Lewistown, Tiffani Fryer and husband, Brian, of Granville; step-children, Aimee Donavan and husband, Sean, and Bret Halfpenny, both of California; grandchildren, Devin, Dylon, Ayden, Dustin and wife Leah, Amanda, Timothy, Darrien, Cody and wife, Jenna; step-grandson, James Donavan; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Mary Jane, Donald, Ledger, Charlotte, Martin, Marshall; siblings, Ann Ross and husband, Fred, of Reedsville, Charles DeArment ‘Chook’ and wife, Bonnie, of Belleville, Donald DeArment and wife, Sandy, of Lewistown; many loving nieces and nephews.
In her younger years, Effie enjoyed singing at church and attended Walnut Street United Methodist Church.
Effie attended Chief Logan High School.
Throughout her career, Effie worked at several local businesses, including Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and the A&E original craft store alongside her sister. She also worked with Jack at EJ Balloons. After retiring, she devoted her time to volunteering at Big Valley Thrift Shop.
Effie was a very loving and caring person who loved her family. She made friends with everyone she met. She adored her two cats, Molly and Baby. She enjoyed collecting Elvis and Coca-Cola memorabilia, crafting, listening to music and singing.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, with Pastor Chris Lutz officiating.
Interment following the funeral service at Vira Methodist Cemetery.
