Esther E. Blessing

Esther E. Blessing, 87, of Lewistown, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at Brookline Manor.

Born August 13, 1936, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Harry Stanton Blessing Jr. and Esther Estella (Billett) Blessing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry S. Blessing III.

She is survived by her niece, Aleta K. Harpster and husband, Mark, of Burnham, and a nephew, Lewis E. Blessing, of Mifflin, grand nephews, Curtis Harpster and wife, Kim, of WI, and Eric Harpster, of Burnham, Brent Harpster and wife, Emilee, of Lewistown; cousin, Carol Eckley, of Reedsville and many other cousins; and George and Brenda Blessing, who were very special.

Esther was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1954.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

In her earlier years, she worked at Avtex Fibers as a Lab. Technician, American Viscose Corporation, Dank’s & Co., and G.C. Murphy Co., five and dime store, in Lewistown.

She was a bowling champ. She liked to travel with Dank’s employees, crochet, complete fill in crossword puzzles. Esther loved to watch the birds, and watch football, especially Penn State, Steelers, and Eagles, and she loved her family.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday Sept. 20, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Reverend Stephen Portner officiating.

Interment will take place at Lind Memorial Cemetery.
