Francis Lowell Moyer, 95, of Lewistown, passed away at 8:51 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 29, 1929, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Jack and Verna (Colson) Moyer. In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Lea M. (Bishop) Moyer, his sister, Mary Moyer, grandson, Noyd Smith Jr., and newborn granddaughter, Olivia Smith.
Francis is survived by: daughter, Susan Smith and husband, Noyd Sr., of Lewistown; grandchildren, Brent Smith and wife, Marchell, Dirk Smith and wife, Nicole, Dennis Smith, and Michael Bowersox who was like a grandson to Francis; and eleven great-grandchildren, David, Melanie, Sarah, Ariana, Michael, Alex, Adrian, Aaron, Mila, Ryder, and Blue.
Francis was employed as a laborer at Bickel’s sawmill in McClure, and Treen’s Box and Pallet in Mifflintown.
Early in life, he was an avid guitar player and enjoyed bluegrass music. Francis loved reading murder mysteries and was well versed in WWII history and the sinking of the Titanic. Francis lived a simple life but touched many people during his lifetime. He was jovial and cared about others. He loved to tell stories from yesteryear and had a special connection with animals. He loved his family dearly and will be missed.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
