Frank A. Harbst, 80, of Lewistown, passed away at 12:09 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 6, 1940, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Rev. Frank C. and Lula (Lepley) Harbst.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Carole (Shontz) Harbst; and his sister, Lily Haubrick.
Frank is survived by: children, Yvonne L. Baumgardner and companion, Matthew Traxler, of Juniata Terrace, Lewistown, and Todd A. Harbst and wife, Jennifer, of Lewistown; four grandchildren, Crystal and Keith Baumgardner, and Lynde and Jay Metzler; great-grandchildren, Enola Kress, Stone Miller and Riley Baumgardner; and brother, Melvin Stringfellow and wife, Barb, of Lewistown.
He was a Lewistown High School graduate.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Corporal with the 8th Engineer Brigade at Camp Lejeune, N.C. from August 1958 to August 1961.
He had attended Granville United Methodist Church.
He retired from Standard Steel Corporation, Machine Shop I.
Frank was a member of the Lewistown Owl's Club, Lewistown Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lewistown Loyal Order of Moose, Brooklyn Hose Company, City Hook and Ladder, and A.B.A.T.E. He loved socializing and spending time with his friends at The Keg and The Brooklyn, throwing darts, and going to hunting camp.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, 2020, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at Union Cemetery, Mifflintown, with Captains Philip and Charity Bender officiating.
