Frederick “Fred” L. Bailor, 85, of Lewistown, passed away at 7:27 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Oct. 1, 1938, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Chester W. and Helen M. (Heaster) Bailor.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by brothers, Chester W. and Dewey C. Bailor, and sisters, Dorothy L. Bailor, Barbara Beaver, and Saundra Searer.
Fred is survived by: his wife, Donna Jane (Wagner) Bailor, whom he married Jan. 24, 1958; four children, Brian K. Bailor, of Laurel Run, Robin L. Stine and husband, Chester, and La Cinda S. Bailor and husband, Steve Carter, both of Lewistown, and Melanie A. Thomas and husband, Shawn, of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Darah Johnson and husband, Chad, Anthony Mowry and fiancé, Andrea Bingaman, Lauren Mowry, Brandyn McClary and wife, Stacy, and Brycen McClary; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Audrey J. Kinser, of Lewistown.
He served in the U.S. Navy from Nov. 1956 to Nov. 1960 as an aircraft mechanic.
Fred was a member of Fairview Bible Church and Brooklyn Hose Company.
He was employed at Marlette Homes, by Noerr Motor Freight as a truck driver, and retired from Trinity Packaging Corporation as a machine maintenance mechanic.
Fred was an excellent husband and loving father and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he also enjoyed bowling and woodworking.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Fairview Bible Church, 5290 SR 103 North (Granville Rd.), Lewistown, with Pastor David Fultz officiating.
