G. Weslie “Wes” Ammerman, 82, of Yeagertown, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the home of his son Keith and daughter-in-law LaVonne. Wes spent the last few months at their home (his home away from home) surrounded by the love of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was blessed enough to enjoy the company of his brothers and other family. The times with his great-grandchildren on his lap, laughing and sharing stories was most cherished.
Born on June 3, 1939, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Kohler and Dorothy (Derr) Ammerman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; an infant son, Brian Ammerman; and a sister, Roxy Ammerman.
He is survived by; wife, Nancy (Lyter) Ammerman and son, Keith Ammerman and wife, LaVonne, whom he lovingly referred to as the 'daughter he never had', of Lewistown; four grandchildren, Ty Ammerman, Caryssa Goss and husband, Zach, Tori Kenepp and husband, Kyle, and Devin Ammerman; five great-grandchildren, Caydence, Emma, Theo, Daxton, and Brinley; brothers, Dan Ammerman and wife, Darlene, of Lewistown, Steve Ammerman and wife, Faye, of Lewistown; son, Jeff Ammerman and wife, Kelly, of Lewistown; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wes was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish of Lewistown. He served on several committees and could be seen mowing the grass and attending to the church’s needs. Wes was also a member of The Knights of Columbus and the local Jaycees chapter.
He was a 1957 graduate of Chief Logan High School.
Wes served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964 where he was a sharpshooter.
He worked as an Industrial Engineer at Standard Steel, where he retired in 2001.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 1st Ave., Burnham.
