Gale H. Corbin, 79, of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born April 25, 1944, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Earnest R. Hesketh, Sr. and Blanche (Appleby) Hesketh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, William W. ‘Bill’ Corbin; two brothers, Jack R. Hesketh, Earnest ‘Ray’ Hesketh, Jr.; two sisters, Jane Dean and Mary Lou Hesketh in infancy.
She is survived by her son, William S. ‘Bill’ Corbin and wife, Candy, of McClure; three grandchildren, Abigail Corbin and fiancé, Dwayne Keiser, Matthew, and Catherine Corbin; great-grandson, Colt Keiser; two sisters, Barbara Dysinger, and Deborah Spickler, of Lewistown.
Gale was a member of the Lewistown C&MA Church. She taught children’s church, junior church and enjoyed being in the nursery. She also was an assistant Sunday school teacher and held Sunday school offices and was a secretary and treasurer in the Alliance Women’s Missionary Group.
She was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1962.
She was employed as a secretary and caseworker at The Salvation Army for 33 years. Earlier in life, she was employed as a secretary in the Mifflin County School District, S. Boova & Co. and McCroy 5 & 10.
Gale loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her friends, and going on bus trips to see shows.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Lewistown C&MA Church, 50 Hudson Ave., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Mr. Earl ‘Pete’ Weaver, Jr. officiating.
Private interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gale’s memory may be made to; Lewistown C&MA Church, The Salvation Army, or a Charity of One’s Choice.
