George L. Berrier, 87, formerly of Lewistown, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Valley View Retirement Community.
Born Feb. 24, 1933, in Burnham, he was a son of the late George B. and Rosella (Flood) Berrier.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: wife, Phyllis (Criswell) Gemberling Berrier; and two brothers, Joseph G. Berrier and Richard T. Berrier.
He is survived by: siblings, Robert L. Berrier and wife, Shirley, of Burnham, Walter E. Berrier and spouse, Frank Fischbach, of New Jersey, Nina Kay Berrier, of York; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Berrier, of Burnham.
George was a Derry High School graduate, Class of 1951.
He was a member of Burnham Church of the Brethren, the Burnham Lions Club, and American Legion.
He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955.
In his earlier years, he worked at American Viscose until the 1972 flood, and at William Jones Milk Co., in Lewistown and Caterpillar in York, building parts, where he later retired. During his retirement, he was a volunteer at Lewistown Hospital.
Services are private and held at the convenience of the family.
A public memorial service will be held at the church at a later date.
Interment will take place at Lind Memorial cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Burnham.
