George E. Hackenberry Obituary
George E. Hackenberry Jr., 87, of Newport, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, at his home.
Born July 16, 1938, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late George ‘Elmer’ Hackenberry Sr. and Betty L. Hackenberry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Hackenberry.
He is survived by his wife, Betty D. (Smith) Hackenberry; three sons, George D. Hackenberry and wife, April, of Milroy, Steven L. Hackenberry and wife, Sue, of Mifflintown, Mark W. Hackenberry and wife, Michelle, Newport; siblings, Charles W. Hackenberry, Robert L. Hackenberry, Barbara J. Auman, Beverly L. Ross; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
George worked as an Operations Dispatcher for different Oil and Gas companies. He started at Sassman Oil Company, Nittany Oil Company, and lastly at Martin Oil Company where he retired. He loved going to camp and spending time with his family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Juniata Memorial Park officiated by Pastor Randy Traxler.
