Gerald B. Clem’ Clelan, 88, of Lewistown, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, at Greenwood Village.
He was born on July 10, 1936, in Lewistown, and was the son of the late George J. Clelan and Isabelle M. (Brown) Clelan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Col. Joseph Clelan.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly M. (Smithers) Clelan, who he married October 24, 1959; children, Kelly J. Schaeffer and husband, Carl, of Lewistown, Kerry A. Royer and husband, Ron, of York, Kris B. Clelan and husband, Jay Hoff, of Bellefonte; grandchildren, Kacey Settine and husband, Gregory, Lizzie Thomas and husband, Brett, Bailey Hoff, and Henry Hoff; great-grandchildren, Eva Thomas and Camden Thomas; and a sister, Martha Lynch, of Oregon.
Clem was a member of First United Methodist Church and loved to sing hymns at the top of his lungs and often could be heard singing them wherever he was.
He was a 1954 graduate of Lewistown High School and attended Clemson University. He was also a United States Army veteran.
Clem worked at Standard Steel for 21 years. After leaving the Standard he started his business in 1985, Clelan Industries & Felmlee Fishing Lures.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, which he loved more than words can say. He had 3 daughters whom he adored. He was the best girl Dad that there could be, teaching his girls softball, football, tire changing, math… He was an avid fisherman and loved working in his flower garden but never learned how to stay out of the kitchen. He also had a love for Penn State and the Phillies. He and his beloved wife of 65 years, loved to travel the United States (49 states) and many countries abroad.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. 3rd St., Lewistown, with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.
Private interment will be held at Juniata Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gerald’s memory to: First United Methodist Church, The Matthew 25 Fund, 200 E. 3rd St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
