Gerald R. Riden

Gerald R. Riden, 82, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, in State College.

Born November 10, 1940, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Harry Granville  and Geraldine (Mowery) Riden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by; siblings, Patty Baumgardner, Joseph Riden, and Beverly Wagner.

He is survived by; his wife, Blanche (Barner) Riden, whom he married March 17, 1999; children, Michael T. Riden, of Lewistown, Thomas A. Riden and wife, Kathleen, of Milroy; stepchildren, Thomas R. Stine, of Lewistown, and Wanda S. Groce, of Lewistown; proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Olivia Ann Frey and husband, Zane, Nathan Matthew Riden, Rowan Hyde Riden, Kendra, Lance, Brittany and Shawn; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Riden and wife, Ann, of Belltown.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #143, A.B.A.T.E., and Touring Friends.

He was a graduate of Yeagertown High School.

He served in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years.

Early in life, he worked at the American Viscose and Standard Steel as a maintenance supervisor, where he retired.

Gerald was a great outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing. He was an avid college football and wrestling fan. He enjoyed spending time with his boys and watching sports.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Kurt Swisher officiating.

Interment will be held at Vira Methodist Cemetery.
