Glenn R. Doverspike Sr., 97, formerly of Yeagertown, and a resident of Greenwood Village, Lewistown, joined his beautiful wife, Shirley of 74 years, and his Lord Jesus at Heaven’s Gate on December 25, 2023. He was born Sept. 10, 1926, to the late Calvin and Carrie (Troup) Doverspike.
In addition to his parents and wife, Shirley J. (Heasley) Doverspike, whom he married Oct. 18, 1945, he was preceded in death by his two brothers and two sisters, and a son-in-law. He was the last of his immediate family.
Glenn is survived by: children, Carol Kling and husband, Joe, of York, Debra Hurley, of McVeytown, Kathy “Kate” Renninger and husband Dan, of Mount Union, and Glenn R. “Rob” Doverspike Jr. and wife, Nikki, of Lewistown; nine grandchildren, Joe, David, Becky, Chris, Russ, Scott, Rob, Jill and Kristen; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Glenn and Shirley were both members of Calvary Bible Church in Lewistown.
Glenn held many occupations since his youth, but most were spent driving truck for Womelsdorf Trucking in Yeagertown, Branch Motor Express in Milton, and others. Glenn enjoyed helping his family in any way he could, especially after retiring. His most beloved furbabies, Benji and Buddy, were the light of his life.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to Noon, Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at Noon, with Rev. Ron Doverspike officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Rock Cemetery, Oakland Avenue, Lewistown.
