Harold L. Snyder, 81, of Lewistown passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, at William Penn Healthcare.
Born September 11, 1940, in Paintersville, Harold was the son of the late Robert R. (Sr.) and Florence (Goss) Snyder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Burkholder) Snyder; and siblings, Robert Snyder and Mary Lou Ross.
He is survived by children, Jerry Snyder and wife, Rose, Guy S. Sowers and wife, Martine, Kelly Huffnagle, Kimberly Sowers and partner, Sarah Beardmore, Keri A. Sowers and husband, Reggie Freed; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Jared, Kylie, Kacie, and Adam; a brother, Charles Snyder and wife, Brenda; a sister-in-law Susan Burkholder, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Earlier in life, Harold attended St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
After graduating High School, he entered the Army and served from 1962- 1968.
He was a skilled mason employed at Howard Masonry, later retiring from The Standard Steel. He also was employed as a cook for the Department of Aging.
Harold was a member of the City Hook and Ladder, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Yeagertown Firehouse, and VFW Post 7011.
He loved his family, enjoyed fishing, going to camp, long walks with his dogs, and gardening especially growing sunflowers.
A public viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main Street, Lewistown.
A graveside service with interment will follow the viewing at Lind Memorial Cemetery with Rev. John Walters officiating with special services provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.
