Harry H. Confer

Harry H. Confer, 94, of Lewistown, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Ohesson Manor.

Born July 2, 1926, in Bellefonte, he was a son of the late Harry A. and Elma M. (Stull) Confer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Dolores A. Confer, who passed March 18, 2020; a daughter, Lisa A. (Confer) Wagner; and siblings, H. Ray Confer, and Ida Jane Bumgardner.

He is survived by: a son, Jeffrey L. Confer and wife, Judith M., of McClure and Roger K. Confer, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Derek B. Confer, of Milroy, Erin M. Confer, of Philadelphia, Ellie M. Confer, of Lewistown; and a great-granddaughter, Allison N. Confer.

Harry was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and taught Sunday school. He was also an assistant scoutmaster with Troop 18.

He attended Lewistown High School and left in his senior year to join the Army serving during WWII with the 70th Infantry Division Trailblazers in the battle of the bulge. When he returned home, he obtained his G.E.D.

Harry worked at the American Viscose, Standard Steel, and Overhead Door where he retired.

Harry was regularly active with the City Hook & Ladder #14 having served over 60 years and held many offices.

Harry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also liked having his daily glass of wine and eating Hartley’s Potato Chips while spending time with his friends at the City Hook & Ladder.

A receiving of friends will be held from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

A graveside service with interment will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Woodlawn Cemetery Milroy, with special services provided by VFW Post 7011.
