Helen (Coleman) Ingram Obituary

Helen Louise (Coleman) Ingram, 87, was called home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2021.  Born on December 5, 1933 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, she was the youngest child of Charles and Bertha Coleman.  Helen grew up on a farm which is now the back nine of the Lewistown Country Club. She graduated from Lewistown High School in 1951 and from the Lewistown School of Nursing in 1954.  Helen was a caring and loving nurse at Lewistown Hospital and William Penn Nursing Center.

In 1954, Helen married the love of her life, Robert L. Ingram. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on September 18, 2020.  She was completely devoted to her children, Jeffrey Ingram and wife, Anita, of Lewistown, and Tracy Ingram and wife, Dina Solito, of Hummelstown. The sparkles in her eyes were from her three grandchildren: Jill (Jared) Hartsock, Megan (Ryan) Ingram-French, and Tate Ingram.  She was the proud great-grandmother of Matthew, Levi, and Andrew Hartsock.

Helen will also be greatly missed by her in-laws, Jack and Gail Ingram, her niece, Joy Wagner, and her many additional nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her siblings, Eva Kauffman, Paul Coleman, Richard Coleman, Margaret Kauffman, Raymond Coleman and Ruth Fagan.

During her life, Helen was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was also a member of Eastern Star, White Shrine (past Worthy Matron), and a Past Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls.  Helen was an avid Penn State football fan and enjoyed cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Helen was happiest when she was involved with her children’s activities. She identified the best years of her life as those spent serving on the Highland Park Elementary School Parent Teacher Association, watching the Chief Logan band, and being her children’s number one basketball, baseball, and softball fan.

After her children left the nest, Helen and Bob enjoyed many trips domestically and abroad.  They relished local concerts, Stone Arch plays, and supporting the Lewistown community. In addition, they cherished time with their friends in the Thursday Breakfast and Dinner Club.  For years, Helen and Bob would meet their friends every Thursday to enjoy good food, share family stories, and talk about current events.  The bonds of their friendships were immeasurable.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
