Howard “Preston” Knepp Jr., 78, of York, passed away on January 15, 2021. Born on January 7, 1943, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Howard Preston Knepp Sr. and Ruth Arlene (Buchanan) Best and stepfather, Clifton A. Best.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters, Erika, of York, and Marjorie, of Pasadena, MD; three grandchildren; and a brother, Wendel “Peter” Knepp, and his wife, Christine, of York, and three nieces: Alexis, Channing, and Susan.
Preston graduated from State College High School in 1960 and received a B.S. degree in Engineering from Penn State University in 1966. He served in the United States Air Force and spoke often of his tour in Hawaii.
Howard became a self-employed entrepreneur in business consulting.
His love for working on cars never faded as his nickname, “Horse Power,” withstood time.
