Jackie Marie Alters

Jackie Marie Alters, 69, of Lewistown, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born on May 11, 1955, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Dean W. and Geraldine ‘Dolly’ (Corman) Fetterolf.

She is survived by her husband, David A. Alters; children, Niki Scyoc and Richard Jr., of Burnham, Amy Anyangu, of MI, Christopher Alters, of Lewistown, Kaylee Deed and husband, Justin, of Burnham, and Isaiah Alters, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Keagan Scyoc, Malia Scyoc, Jude Anyangu, Huckston Deed, Lennox Deed, and Mason Deed; siblings, Mary F. Homan and husband, Gary, of Centre Hall, Cindy Gerity and husband, Patrick, of Pittsburgh, and Kenneth D. Fetterolf  and wife, Joan, of Reedsville.

She was a member of River Church of Juniata County in Mifflintown and was devoted to children’s ministry for many years.

Jackie was a graduate of Penns Valley Area High School, Class of 1973, Centre County Vo-Tech where she studied cosmetology, and a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, OK.

As a homemaker, a wife, a mother and a grandmother, she was strong, capable and tireless, always striving to make everything better.  She had a genuine passion for working with young people. She cared deeply for the emotional and spiritual well-being of each child she taught at church and to those children that she fostered. She showed a lot of love to everyone.

Jackie enjoyed shopping for and collecting antiques and crafting.

A viewing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.  A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 6:30 p.m., with Pastor Bob Landis officiating.
