James William Black

James William Black, 82, of McClure, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born Dec. 21, 1940, in Wyalusing, Pa., he was a son of the late Samuel F. Black II and Sara Jeannette (McLaughlin) Black.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James W. Black Jr. and his brother, Samuel F. Black III.

He is survived by: son, Daniel Lee Black and wife, Jennifer, of McClure; two grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

James was a Lewistown High School graduate.

He was a member of the National Guard and East Derry Fire Company.

James was employed locally as a mechanic at Sitkin Smelting and Refining and for Max Corkins.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.

Interment will take place at Wagner Cemetery, McClure.
