James M. ‘Beanie’ Crager Jr., 93, of Lewistown, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 6:35 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2023, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 25, 1929, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late James M. Crager Sr. and Gertrude (McConaughy) Crager.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; wife, Nancy T. (Thompson) Crager, who passed away on Nov. 9, 2006; and a sister, Katherine Gibbons, who passed away on Sept. 14, 2016.
He is survived by; many nieces and nephews.
James graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1949.
He served in the United States Army.
James worked at the American Viscose Corporation and Standard Steel, where he retired.
He was a member of several of the local fire companies and was very active with the Brooklyn Fire Company for many years.
He was an avid Penn State fan. He attended many games, collected pins, books, programs and acquired a lot of Penn State memorabilia.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Juniata Memorial Park, with Pastor Kirk Nagle officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
