James H. Kauffman, 92, of Burnham, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, at William Penn Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
Born December 18, 1930, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Agnes (Powell) Kauffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; siblings, Dave Kauffman, Earl Kauffman, Pearl Henry, Shirley Goss, and Doris Gill.
He is survived by; his wife, Florence Ruth (Eward) Kauffman, whom he married on May 5, 1953; children, Dennis L. Kauffman, Cathy M, Druckemiller and husband, Harry, and James S. Kauffman, all of Burnham; grandchildren, Ashley Hagemeyer and husband, Michael, David Druckemiller and wife, Sarah; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Saige Hagemeyer; siblings, Robert Kauffman and wife, Emma, of Milroy, William Kauffman and wife, Joann, of Nebraska, Barbara Fisher, of Lewistown, Alice Henry and husband, Burton, of Reedsville, Connie Baumgardner and husband, Bucky, of Florida.
He was a member of Siglerville Congressional Church.
James was a United States Army veteran serving in Korea from 1950 to 1953. He earned the combat infantry badge, the Korean service medal with two bronze stars, national defense service medal, United Nations service medal, and one overseas bar.
He worked as a crane operator at Standard Steel, where he later retired.
James loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors going fishing and hunting.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Chaplain Brad Zembower and Pastor Stephen Portner officiating.
Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery with military honors.
