James A. Stitt, 71, of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at his home.
Born April 1, 1948, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Samuel Russell Sr. and Anna Mae (Montgomery) Stitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, George F. Stitt, Sharon Hoff, and Samuel R. Stitt Jr.
James is survived by: his wife, Deborah (Fink) Stitt; daughter, Krista Hannon and husband, Christopher, of Lewistown; granddaughters, Amanda and Lexie Hannon; and siblings, Norma J. Atkinson, Eleanor A. Stuck, Robert K. Stitt, and Barbara J. Simonton.
James was a Lewistown High School graduate.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War as an infantryman and was a Purple Heart recipient.
James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed hunting, loved his dogs, and was a member of the Lewistown Owls Club and VFW Post 7011.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main Street, Lewistown.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 U.S. Highway 522 South, Lewistown, with Pastor Teresa Fink officiating.
