Janis Eileen Grimmer, 79, of Reedsville, passed away at 3:42 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024, at her home.
Born Aug. 11, 1944, in Waterbury, Conn., she was a daughter of the late Francis J. and Dorothy E. (Elwood) Horesco. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Grimmer, whom she married Feb. 27. 1965, on Jan. 31, 2017.
Janis is survived by her children, Paul J. Grimmer and wife, Lisa, of Southbury, Conn., Kristine L. Glace and husband, Kenneth, of Wellsville, Pa., and Vicki M. Ematat and husband, J.R., and Cody N. Grimmer, both of Reedsville; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Kelsey and Alyssa Grimmer, Kaylee Kaminski and husband, Brandon, Sarah Halterman and husband, Albert, Andrew Bishop, Erin Hartley and husband, Ryan, and Tai Ematat; three great-grandchildren, Brody Bishop, Jensen Hartley, and Marcus Halterman; siblings, Joseph Horesco and wife, Jackie, of Conn., and Jody Caroots, of Reedsville, and their children; and many nieces and nephews.
Janis was a graduate of Shelton High School, Class of 1963. She also attended college for a time.
She was a member of Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In her earlier years, Janis was a Department Manager at Shelton Products while the family resided in Connecticut. The store produced vacuum cleaners and small appliances; however, she proudly told her family and friends on many occasions that her chosen career was “domestic engineer of her household.” She and husband, Paul fostered five children and taught acrobatics.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.
