Jean E. Tayrien Goss

Jean E. (Eisenhart) Tayrien Goss, 94, formerly of Milroy, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at North Ridge Center Personal Care in McAlisterville.

Born October 20, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late C. Harold and Mary Hazel Eisenhart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, William H. Goss Sr., who passed away on December 12, 2006; her sisters, Dolores F. Ryan, and Thelma M. Shimp.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary B. DeLancey and husband, Merril E., of Selinsgrove; and Darlene Niman DeLancey, of Oakland Mills, Jean loved her like a daughter; sister-in-law, Margaret Hurlburt, of Reedsville.

Jean was a graduate of Yeagertown High School, Class of 1947.

She was Methodist by faith, and lastly attended Aldersgate U.M.C. in Mifflintown.

She was the owner and operator of Jean Tayrien’s Beauty Salon. She worked as a secretary at Lewistown Hospital where she retired in 1990.

Jean was a Hospice volunteer for 10 years, loved to write and was a voracious reader.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2023, at Salam Cemetery in New Lancaster Valley, with Pastor Mindy Petrovcic officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jean’s memory may be offered to an animal rescue of one’s choice.
