Jeffrey Michael Hoar, 66, of Lewistown, passed away at 9 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at his home.
Born Feb. 12, 1958, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Samuel N. Sr. and Anna E. (Bulick) Hoar. In addition to his parents, Jeffrey was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph W. Hoar and Samuel N. Hoar Jr. Jeffrey grew up in Yeagertown and was a proud member of the Yeagertown crew!
Jeffrey is survived by: wife, Jeanne (Bossert) Hoar; daughter, Tiffany B. Amspacker and husband, Darren, of Lewistown; stepson, Seth Klinger, of Lewistown; and siblings, Gary W. Hoar and wife, Anna, of Lewistown, Judy McAlister and husband, Rick, of Port Royal, Shelby Wolfley, of Milroy, Stephen Hoar, of Lewistown, and Keith Hoar and wife, Beth, of Lewistown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. from Sept. 1976 to Sept. 1980, and was assigned to Company A, 25th Signal Battalion as a wire systems installer.
Jeffrey was primarily employed as a printing press mechanic/mechanical engineer and millwright with CBI, Heidelberg International and Goss International, worldwide suppliers of web offset printing supplies, and lastly, as a laborer at Standard Steel prior to retiring.
Jeff was a member of many local clubs, including the Yeagertown Firehouse where he was known for playing the best music on the juke. Music was a huge part of his life. In the 1970’s, he was the singer for the local band Truax. The soundtrack to life is a passion he shared with his daughter, and, if you ever played song trivia with them, you more than likely lost. Jeff also loved to cook and read. Being a book connoisseur, you could find him reading a good book on his breaks and sharing his thoughts on them with anyone who would listen.
Jeff loved his family and was always there to help. His siblings will miss him tremendously. Tiffany and Jeanne were his girls and not a day will go by that he won’t be thought of fondly, or a song being played will stir a memory. Jeff said his happiest day was when his daughter was born. He often said he jumped higher than Michael Jordan ever could have that day, and that is big air for the vertically challenged.
Jeff loved his many friends to no end. He was loyal, fun and gave good advice, often letting people know that you can’t sweat the small stuff because it’s all small stuff. “TC”, you were his ride or die, and “Deet”, you always were his bonus sister. If you have ever heard “FTFF”, then you received advice from Jeff at some point during the time you were lucky enough to know him.
“Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid”. F. Zappa
“I am not afraid of death because I do not believe in it. It is just getting out of one car and into another”. J. Lennon
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown. A brief memorial service will begin at 5:30 p.m. with Mr. Justin Sellers officiating.
