Jerry Alton Gramley, Sr., 83, of Reedsville, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home.
Born July 13, 1940, in Petersburg, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Raymond and Imogene (Wilson) Gramley.
Jerry is survived by: wife, Louise (Dill) Gramley; son, Jerry “Cork” Gramley Jr. and wife, Gwen, of Reedsville; grandsons, Travis Gramley and wife, Melissa, and Brock Gramley and wife, Ashley; four great-grandchildren, Aston, Archer, Nolan, and Arya Gramley; siblings, Raymond Gramley and wife, Barbara, and sister, Barbara Menegat and husband, Joseph, both of Mechanicsburg.
He was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1958. Jerry also attended courses in metallurgy for Standard Steel Corporation through the University of Maryland and SCIM training as part of his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training through Bucks Community College.
Jerry was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as a gunner’s mate aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid from 1958 to 1962.
He was a member of Reedsville Lutheran Church.
He retired from Standard Steel Corporation as a supervisor in the Melt Shop.
Jerry was an EMT Instructor for 30 years and a volunteer firefighter for 40 years. He coached Pee Wee football for many years and served as a poll judge for Brown Township primary and general elections.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Private interment with military honors will take place at Church Hill Cemetery.
