Jesse W. Barger Sr.

Jesse W. Barger Sr., 76, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born November 2, 1949, in Pot Licker Flats, Milroy, he was the son of the late William G. and Mary (McElwain) Barger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharen A. Barger.

He is survived by his children, Jesse Barger Jr. and wife, Angie, Rodney Barger, Jerry Barger Sr.  and companion, Pam Laub, Rick Barger and wife, Lynn; grandchildren, Ashley Lukens and husband, Curtis, Brittany Peachey and husband, Michael, Jerry Barger Jr., Danielle Young and husband, Anthony, Megan Lear and husband, Sean, Cody Barger, Chase Barger, Josh Barger and wife, Morgan, Thomas Barger; great-grandchildren, Jack Barger, Ella Peachey, Gavin Peachey, Gianna Peachey, Lydia Lukens, Gannon Lukens, Kayson Lukens, Madison Barger; siblings, Larry Barger and wife, Buni Beverly Bishop and husband, Mike, Ronna Marie Ort, David Barger and wife, Mary, Elanie Beam and husband, Norman; daughters-in-law, Jodie Barger, Tracy Ferguson, and Corrina Barger.

He attended Windy Hill Church with his wife Sharen.

Jesse was a 1968 Lewistown High School graduate.

He was employed throughout his life as an electrician and plumber, serving his community with dedication and skill.

Jesse found joy in hunting, fishing, and flying model airplanes. He was known for singing at George’s on Sundays and cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to the Senior Center to spend time with friends.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 12 p.m., with Reverend Luke Shinskie officiating.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jesse’s memory to: American Cancer Society or Lewistown Senior Citizen Center.
