John H. Goss

John H. Goss, 77, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.

Born January 9, 1944, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Guy H. and Lena K. (O’Donnell) Goss.

He is survived by: his wife, Helen M. (Gearhart) Goss, whom he married June 4, 1966; children, Stephanie A. Hensal and husband, Richard, of Virginia, Michael J. Goss and wife, Amber R., of Lewistown; four grandchildren, Nicole M. Fleschute and husband, Bobby, of VA, Rebecca A. Hensal and companion, Eric Poindexter, of VA, Ryan M. Goss, of Lewistown, and Katelyn R. Goss, of Lewistown; two great-grandchildren, Miles Poindexter, and Maria Poindexter; siblings, Larry L. Goss and wife, Judy, Steven D. Goss and wife, Sue, Guy A. Goss and wife, Barb, Mark Goss and wife, Doreen, and George Goss and wife, L.B., all of Lewistown; and several nieces and nephews.

John attended Chief Logan High School.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in New Lancaster Valley.

John was the co-owner and operator of John H. Goss & Son Excavating.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed camping and being at camp with his family for hog butchering and the annual making of chicken corn soup.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 am., Friday, October 8, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Reed, Pastor Dale Benner, and Pastor Crystal Baumgardner officiating.

Interment will take place in Vira Methodist Cemetery.
