John H. Hampton, 80, of Milroy, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at his home.
Born March 28, 1941, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna Mae (Walls) Hampton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Hampton, and Doris Walters.
He is survived by; his wife, Nancy K. (Whitesel) Hampton, whom he married on Dec. 22, 1958; children, Chris K. Hampton and wife, Shawn, of Milroy, and Lori Knable and husband, Todd, of McVeytown; three grandchildren, Julie Hampton, Aaron Knable and wife, Brooke, Kari Metzler and husband, Lucas; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Cael, Lyla, and Jedd Metzler.
John served in the United States Navy from 1958-1964.
He was a member of Lake Park United Methodist Church.
John worked in the melt shop as a crane operator at Standard Steel where he retired after 42 years of service.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing and going to his grandchildren’s ball games. John also enjoyed taking care of his wife. He was very active in the church, and he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Lake Park United Methodist Church, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.
