John Paul Kriauckas, 95, of Bellefonte, passed away at 7 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Centre Care, Bellefonte.
Born July 26, 1928, in Clymer, Indiana County, he was a son of the late Anthony and Anna C. (Gudiatis) Kriauckas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten siblings.
Surviving are two sisters, Susan Newman, of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Beatrice Runnion, of Decatur, Ga., and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
John was inducted into the U.S. Army after graduation and was assigned to the 102nd Infantry Regiment, 43rd Division in Germany from Dec. 1950 to Nov. 1952. He later returned to school and earned an A.S. Degree in Accounting.
Early in life, John sold insurance for Lloyd’s of London, but his greatest love was farming, which he did throughout his life.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown, and was very active in Catholic based education and community service programs including Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD), and local Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Woodland Owners Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 106 North Dorcas Street, Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating.
Interment will take place at Church of the Resurrection Cemetery in Clymer.
