John C. Laughlin, 88, of Ferguson Valley, Lewistown, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at his home.
Born Oct. 3, 1934, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Carl B. Sr. and Mary (Rambler) Laughlin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet (Teenie) Laughlin.
John is survived by: his wife, Jean (Aurand) Laughlin; children, Scott Laughlin, of Belltown, and Stephanie Taisler, of Long Island, N.Y.; step-daughter, Kristen (Suloff) Kuhn, of Lewistown; seven grandchildren, Scott, John, Faith, Peter, Steven, Jesse and Haley; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Raelynn; and brothers, Carl B. Laughlin Jr., of Enola, and Wilfred R. “Bill” Laughlin, of Lewistown.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
John attended Ellen Chapel Church for many years and recently attended St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Lewistown, where he was an active member of The Barnabas Brothers.
John was a man of many talents and was successful at everything he did. Early in life, he was a mechanic at Laughlin’s Cycle Shop in Ferguson Valley and was also a dairy farmer. He owned several Hess gas stations in Florida and worked alongside his son, Scott, as a mechanic on line trucks. Later in his life, he was a contractor for Emory.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, with Reverend Allen Hulslander and Reverend Mark Hill officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park with military honors provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
