K. Daniel “Dan” Collins, 75, of Yeagertown, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, at his home.
Born March 6, 1947, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Avalon (Collins) Smith.
Dan is survived by three cousins, George D. “Pat” Collins, of Wilmington, N.C., Timothy Collins, of Lewistown, and Lisa (Collins) Hetsko, of Jessup, Pa.
He was a 1965 graduate of Chief Logan High School and attended Williamsport Area Community College.
Dan served proudly as an Army Military Policeman from July 1966 to July 1968, with a tour in Vietnam. This continued a family tradition of serving in the military.
He was a member of Yeagertown United Methodist Church, a life member of Yeagertown Fire Company and social member of City Hook and Ladder Fire Company.
Dan retired several years ago from UGI as a corrosion technician. He enjoyed driving to local scenic spots, taking photographs of animals and scenery and posting them on Facebook. Dan was a familiar face and well-known customer of the Parkway store, its owners and clientele. He loved spending time with his close friends and their families and enjoyed eating apple dumplings from his good friend, Carla Kuhns. Dan loved telling jokes and making people laugh.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham.
A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Yeagertown United Methodist Church, 7 North Mann Ave., Yeagertown, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Steven Small Jr. officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date at Yeagertown Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
