Karl Michael “Head” Picketts, 75, of Burnham, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at his home.
Born June 6, 1947, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Fred Sr. and Mary (Brittain) Picketts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Picketts Jr.
Karl is survived by: four children, Michael Horning, of Burnham, Jodi Little, of Dillsburg, Matt Horning, of Reedsville, and Anthony “Tony” Noland Sr. and wife, Carol Ann, of Mifflintown; six grandchildren, Isaiah Horning, Emma Little, Garret Horning, Maura Horning and companion, T.J. Watson, Evan Horning, and Anthony Noland Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Athena Hathaway, Adleigh Horning and Lil, Kendall and Grace Noland; siblings, Dan Picketts Sr., of Burnham, Sam Picketts and wife, Gretchen, and Lisa Hoskavich and husband, Michael, both of New Jersey; nieces and nephews, Dan Picketts Jr., Abbey Picketts and husband, Dave Thomas, Molly Heckendorn, Cory Picketts, Sam Picketts, Josh Picketts, and Brandon Miller and their families.
He was a Chief Logan High School graduate, Class of 1966, where he excelled in basketball, football and track. His Mingoes football team only lost four games during his high school football career.
Karl was co-owner and Vice President of Akers Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Sales in Lewistown.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting antiques.
“Head” loved his family and his many dear friends, whom he affectionately referred to as “The Gang”. They meant the world to him. He loved taking care of the people in his town and was always there if they needed him. He was Bigger than Life and his absence will be felt by so many.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m., with Rev. Bill Esborn officiating. A time of sharing and remembrance will follow the service.
