Karl R. Underhill Sr., 93, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Locust Grove Retirement Village.
Born Nov. 2, 1926, in Long Island, N.Y., he was a son of the late Michael P. and Ruth (Schaeffer) Underhill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: wife, Ethel A. (Daniscak) Underhill, who passed in 2005; five siblings, Ray Andrew Underhill, Michael P. Underhill, Robert J. Underhill, Gerald J. Underhill and George A. Underhill; a grandson, Eddie Bartell; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Underhill, and Dot Underhill.
He is survived by: Karl R. Underhill Jr., of McClure, Glenn C. Underhill, of Middleburg, Patricia Bartell, of McClure, Deborah Wray and husband, Lynn, of McClure, Donna M. Wert and husband, Jeffrey, of Milroy, Gary R. Underhill and wife, Erica, of Mifflinburg; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Seebold and husband, Donald, of New Berlin, Glenn C. Underhill and wife, Joan, of McClure, and Ann Miller and husband, Glenn, of Mifflinburg; son-in-law, Edward Bartell and wife, Marsha, of McClure.
Karl was a member of Bakers United Methodist Church, and American Legion Post 941, in McClure.
Earlier in life, he was a truck driver and a farmer. Karl started his own business, Karl Underhill Sr. Excavating that he owned and operated for 50 years.
He was stationed in the Pacific during WWII as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army.
Karl enjoyed going out to eat with his family.
Per Karl’s wishes, no services will be held.
Interment will take place at Baker United Methodist Church.
