Kay Louise Johnson, 86, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, December 18, 2023.
Born Oct. 13, 1937, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Albert W. and Isabelle H. (Wagner) Vawn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald N. Johnson, whom she married in 1955; son, Michael Johnson; grandson, Aaron Johnson; sister, Barbara Heider Erb; nephew, Billy Jo “Tink” Erb; and son-in-law, Douglas Treaster.
Kay is survived by: children, Rhonda Richard and husband, Paul, of McVeytown, Albert Johnson, of Lewistown, Robin Treaster, of Burnham, and Timothy Johnson and wife, Kellie, of Lewistown; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.
She was a Derry Township High School graduate, Class of 1955.
Kay was a member of Maitland Church of the Brethren.
She retired from Lewistown Hospital with 29 years of service in various positions as a nursing aide, ward clerk, and in the anesthesia department of the operating room.
Kay enjoyed quilting, knitting, and spending time with her family and neighbors. She was a member of the Lewistown Moose, Milroy Legion, City Hook and Ladder, and Yeagertown Fire Companies.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown, followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeannine Leister officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date at the Juniata Memorial Park Mausoleum.
