Kenneth E. Mowery, 90, of Decatur Township, McClure, went to be with his Heavenly Father at 12 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024.
Born Oct. 21, 1934, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late George R. and Isabelle (Conner) Mowery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Vivian (Stone) Mowery, on Dec. 20, 2013.
Kenneth is survived by: children, Kenneth E. Mowery Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Beaver Springs, Laurel C. Archey and husband, Jeffrey, of Bloomsburg, and Lanette C. Shockey and husband, Todd, of Mount Airy, Md.; nine grandchildren, Chelsea Mowery, Kaitlin Benner, Nathan Archey and wife, Patricia, Matthew Archey and wife, Cassandra, Courtney Battles, Ryan Battles, Matthew Shockey and wife, Mary, Michael Shockey, and Melina Shockey; six great-grandchildren, Camden, Lilah, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Amara, and Micah; and brother, Stanley Mowery, of Lewistown.
He was a Lewistown High School graduate and completed many agricultural courses through The Pennsylvania State University.
He most recently attended Samuels Church in McClure. Kenneth enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Alfarata Men’s Chorus, and Strodes Mills Lions Club.
Kenneth retired from Standard Steel Corporation as a Mill Operator with 33 years of service, but he was a farmer his entire life and that was his true calling. Kenneth and his wife also owned and operated their family-run custom meat shop at their farm in McClure for 50 years.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m., with Reverend Clark Kelsey officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
