Leonard Lee Ronk, 77, of Lewistown, passed away at 9:22 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewistown.
Born Feb. 11, 1946, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late David C. and Bessie (Harshbarger) Ronk.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Shirk.
Leonard is survived by: siblings, Linda Ronk, and Ronald Ronk and wife, Connie, both of Lewistown, and Shirl Miller and husband, Jeffrey, of Reedsville; and nephews, David Zook, of Indiana, and Eric Zook, of Lewistown.
He was a graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union. Leonard then went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and special education from Millersville University, Class of 1967.
Leonard was employed as an elementary and special education teacher by the Mount Union School District, from which he retired.
He was a member of the National and Pennsylvania State Education Associations, Mount Union Area Education Union (MUAEU), and the Council for Exceptional Children.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, followed by the memorial service at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Leonard’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
