Linda Kay Swisher, 76, of Reedsville, entered Heaven at 12:26 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Feb. 22, 1948, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Erma (Johnson) Kochenderfer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Swisher, and her sister, Sharon Jones.
Linda is survived by: son, Kevin M. Swisher, of Reedsville; brother, Dwight Kochenderfer and wife, Karen, of Lewistown; niece and nephews, Kathleen Burke and husband, Geoff, Scott Kochenderfer and wife, Amanda, and Dan Kochenderfer and wife, Jillian; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews, Zachary, Abby and Maya Burke, Jonas and Saffron Kochenderfer, and Crue, Lila, and Aven Kochenderfer.
She was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1966, and a graduate of Lock Haven University in 1970, where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree and teaching certification.
She was a member of Ellen Chapel Church.
Linda was employed by the Mifflin County School District for many years, teaching World Cultures courses at the Junior High level at various locations. She retired from Indian Valley Middle School.
Family and friends meant everything to Linda. She especially enjoyed supporting her great-nieces’ and great-nephews’ activities, and no distance was too far to attend a family gathering or a sporting event. She loved music, playing clarinet and piano, and singing in the Ellen Chapel Church Choir. Linda also enjoyed playing racquetball at the Juniata Valley YMCA.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22, at Ellen Chapel Church, 11764 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, with Pastor Mark Hill officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
