Lloyd E. “Dutch” “Flicker” Setzler, 89, of Lewistown, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at his home, with his loving son, Dennis, and loving daughter, Lynn, by his side.
Born July 6, 1932, in Bratton Township, he was a son of the late Charles L. and Nina Grace (Foster) Setzler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna A. (Yoder) Setzler, Jan. 16, 2014, and numerous brothers and sisters. He was the last of his immediate family.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Lesa M. Setzler and companion, Harvey J. Dobson Jr., of Yeagertown, Lynn A. Setzler, of Burnham, and Dennis L. Setzler, of Lewistown, with whom Lloyd resided, and a granddaughter, Tiffany N. Setzler, of Burnham.
Lloyd was a 1952 graduate of Oliver-Bratton High School.
He was a U.S. Army Korean Conflict veteran who served from 1953 to 1954 with the 2nd Reconnaissance Company, 2nd Infantry Division.
He was a member of Pine Glen Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA) Church.
As a young man, he worked at the John and Warren Gro farm, then worked for General Motors for a time. He later became employed by U.S. Silica from May 21, 1956 to Jan. 31, 1998, when he retired with 42 years of service.
Lloyd enjoyed taking rides through Ferguson Valley, gardening and mowing his lawn, bird watching, western and war movies, trains, John Deere tractors and reading his Bible. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time and playing games with his family. Missed will be the many trips for breakfast at Vince’s with granddaughter, Tiffany, and shopping at Walmart.
He had a great sense of humor and would always say, “See you in the funnies”.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown.
A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2022, at Pine Glen CMA Church, 1058 State Route 103 North, Lewistown. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., with Pastor Daniel Stegeman and Mr. Buck Carolus officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, with military honors by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
